I’m documenting my daughter’s and my experience with Invisalign clear aligners. I’m a member of the Invisalign Mom Advisory Board, and we’re receiving complimentary treatment as part of the program.
My mother-daughter adventure in orthodontia continues, and it’s time I gave you an update on our Invisalign treatment.
This is going to be a short post because…everything’s going so smoothly there’s not much to report besides the huge improvements we’re both seeing in our teeth.
Invisalign has become such an effortless part of our lives we practically forget we’re in treatment. It’s incredibly easy and convenient, which is saying something given my daughter’s alignment issues.
We take the aligners out when we eat or drink, we clean them and put them back, we move up to a new set of aligners every two weeks, and we visit our (fabulous) orthodontist for a checkup every three months.
Mira and I have come to look forward to our checkups. Believe it or not, we have fun doing this together. And it’s exciting to see how much our smiles have actually changed. I’ll save the before-and-after pictures for the end of treatment, but here’s a computer model of how much my daughter’s alignment and bite have changed since last summer.
I couldn’t be more pleased with Invisalign. I was afraid orthodontic treatment was going to be a lot more complicated, uncomfortable and inconvenient — it certainly was when I had braces years ago. I’d also heard that treatment was more difficult and painful for some adults, but beyond the initial soreness and the occasional scratchy aligner, that has not been the case at all. But this has been a breeze for both of us.
If you’re looking into orthodontic treatment for your kids (or yourself), take the Smile Assessment on Invisalign’s website to see if it’s an option for you. Or find an Invisalign doctor in your neighborhood and set up a free consultation. It’s really worth looking into.
