Melissa’s on a roll. Love this swimsuit hack:
I couldn’t find a suit I liked for my active 19 month old daughter – I needed something that would cover her up and protect her knees from the inevitable skids. So – I just got her a pair of toddler boys’ swim trunks, a little large so they come practically to her ankles. They work great and have the added bonus of sun protection. I just got the rashguard that matched and hey presto, we were all set.

I can never get my son’s suit to stay up, but tying it tightly generally causes trouble (bathroom breaks, etc).
last summer I saw a dad zip up a cordlock (http://www.cordlock.com/) on the ties to his son’s suit. brilliant! I cut one from an old jacket and never looked back.
someday, all kid suits will have them 🙂
On a related note, this mom is shopping for swim trunks for herself. Why not? Certainly I’m not the only mom who takes super quick showers and doesn’t want to be bothered with the super deluxe leg shaving just so I can take kiddo to the pool.
I love this idea. I have a baby boy, but I’ll do the same thing when we eventually take him in the water. I want to keep the sun off him, and I hate the idea of slathering sunscreen all over him – who knows what’s in that stuff? So I’ll just buy trunks that are too big – drawstring waists fix that – and a long-sleeved rash guard, and we’ll be all set.
