Amazon Friday Sale 4/11/08: Lots of good stuff!

Lots of good stuff showed up in today's Amazon Friday sale! (Sale prices last through today only.)

Remember manual carpet sweepers? Little rotary brushes inside pick up debris just by getting pushed back and forth over the floor. I still see them in use in movie theaters — the employees use them to sweep up popcorn. My husband (the neat one) came home with one about a year ago so we could avoid lugging our vacuum upstairs for carpet touch-ups.

To our surprise and delight, our kids love to use it to "vacuum" their rooms. It's light and easy to maneuver, and anything that encourages kids to clean is a good thing. They get a workout, too.

Amazon's got a nice one on sale today — the Bissell Perfect Sweep, good for both floors and carpets — half the usual price ($19.99 instead of $39.99)

If your springtime is like ours here in Portland, you never know when a warm day will show up, so it's nice to have the swim stuff ready to go. They've got Huggies Little Swimmers swim diapers (Nemo and Tigger, Size M, 24-34 lbs., 2 packs of 11-count) on sale for $14.49 (27% off).

I've had a mandoline slicer for years. Just the other day I pulled it out to make homemade baked potato chips for the kids (my son's idea). No way could I have sliced the potatoes that thinly with my knife. They also shred vegetables beautifully (think carrot salad or sushi) without having to deal with the food processor. This V-slicer is on sale for $19.99 (half off) and Amazon will even throw in a bonus set of flexible cutting boards for free. Not bad! (Follow the directions on the Amazon page to grab that promotion.)

Over a year ago we posted a hack suggesting the Camelbak hydration backpack as a good solution for nursing moms' nighttime thirst. If you're a family of hikers, you'll all use it all summer. On sale: The Camelbak Women's LUXE 3-liter for $49.99 (usually $85).

They've got an awesome Kelty KIDS Journey backpack-carrier for $89.99 (usually $160). You could probably find this cheaper used, but if you're in the market for a new one, I've always been happy with Kelty.

I just ordered the Kelty backpack carrier! I’ve been looking for a good price on a new one, so I was really excited to see this! Thanks!
