Pamper yourself while bathing the kids

in: Bath Time & Grooming

Heather has found that bathtime for the kids offers a multi-tasking opportunity for mom:

Turn "bath time" into "pamper time" by using the opportunity to soak your feet while your kids are in the tub! I've got a ledge on my bathtub to sit on, but you could easily pull up a chair to the bathtub.  Pour in some lavender baby bath for some aromatherapy, browse a magazine while your kids are happily playing, and have lotion and socks ready to put on your pampered footsies when you are done.  I've found this is a great way to turn a fun time for my kids into a pampering opportunity for me while I remain hands-on to supervise their play.

This is a fabulous idea! I can’t wait until little dude is old enough to splash around on his own.

I have always done this when I can, and it definitely improves bath time. I actually use a product by Bliss called “rosy toes”. You rub it on your feet pre-soak. Then, before I take my son out, I put lotion and clean socks on. Instant pedicure!

WOW! I usually clean the bathroom while their bathing. This sounds SO much better! I will definitely use this tip. Thanks for the great idea.

I finally stopped breaking my back by washing my kids’ hair like this. Rather then sitting on a stool outside the tub, I now sit on the ledge with my feet in the water while I wash their hair. Not quite so spa like as reading a magazine, but it sure is easier, and nice on the feet too. For rinsing my older child’s hair, I’ve occasionally stood up in the tub, and she can hold onto my legs while she leans back to get her hair under the water.

Thanks to my husband for suggesting this to me. If only he’d wash their hair sometimes… but that is a whole other topic. 🙂

Does no one else get IN the tub with their child? When my boy was a babe, we loved nursing in the tub. I could lean back on one of those inflatable pillows, and I kept a cup on hand to pour cold water over his body, or I made sure the water was deep enough to keep him covered. I figure it was like being back in the womb.
He’s 6 now, but still occasionally requests pampering treatment of me getting in the tub to scrub him, and then I put his robe on him and send him out for a few minutes play while mama adds a bit more hot water and relaxes.
