I'm proud to announce that I'll be a regular guest at GeekDad — the new Wired blog devoted to geeky fun with kids. I'll be injecting a GeekMom perspective, which is sort of funny given that I'm a geek more by marriage than by birth. (Although my husband, Rael, would beg to differ. I was the first of my peers to have an email address. In fact, I remember a time when the only person I ever emailed was Rael because no one else I knew had an email address. And I did write a book about HTML back in 1996. And I am heavily involved in an Internet startup. Hm.)
In many ways, GeekDad is the ideal complement to Parent Hacks — we focus on the practical, problem-solving stuff, and they highlight the fun, project-y stuff. So while I don't consider myself the definitive geeky mom, I'm thrilled to be a part of it.

Congratulations!
Thanks for the introducing us to the GeekDad blog. The guys behind it are coming up with some pretty great stuff and it can only help to have a Geek Mom adding to the mix.
How else are the kids going to stay safe? =)
I’m still waiting for your guest spots on something like Ellen, Regis and Kelly, or Conan. Make sure to keep us posted when those come around.
you crack me up, Jim! Frankly, I don’t have time for world domination. I’d need to get a babysitter. 🙂
Geek! I toldt you! I toldt you! 🙂
You ARE a geek. But even more than that, a great communicator.
Congratulations! Off to check out GeekDad now…
If authoring an HTML book in ’96, doesn’t make you a geek, you may be setting the bar a little higher than the general public. Face it, with or without stick-on Spock ears, you probably qualify.
Congrats on GeekDad- I’ll now be adding it to my Google Reader lineup instead of periodically visiting.
Mike: ok, I give.
Adrienne: And I also grew up watching Star Trek and can recite many lines. (“I’m a doctor, not an escalator.”) And I’ve been to a Star Trek convention. ok, I give.
I saw your pic over at GeekDad this morning and was wondering if there was going to be a blurb here. Awesome. Way to go geek mom!
I too can remember not having anyone to e-mail with my e-mail address I can also remember logging on to “bulletin boards” when you couldn’t use a backspace if you messed up with your login.
congrats girlfriend!!! : )
Congrats. I saw the post at GeekDads and thought how cool it was.
Looking forward to your new column.
